Our proposed route will take us through Europe, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Iran, and Pakistan to India. The focus of the expedition is to retrace the journeys of Captain William Shakespear, a British Army officer and relative of Helen's, who served in the Indian Political Department from 1901. In addition we will be using the expedition and our skills as diving instructors to carry out coral reef surveys for the Reef Check Foundation, an international organisation that relies on volunteer divers and marine scientists to collect information from which the health of the world's coral reefs can be determined.
