• Life Venture trek towels - take up minimal space, dry you and themselves instantly

• A good cooker and saucepans - we use an MSN Dragonfly multi-fuel stove which has had the equivalent to 18 months constant use and is still going strong - bear in mind that you can't always get gas cylinders
• Decent clothes washing powder eg Persil and a bucket - soak your clothes first to shift the dirt - also works well on oil-stained hands!
• LED head torch
• Re-chargeable batteries and a charger that will work in the car - those Duracell batteries that you bought in the souq at $2 for 40 may not be that great!
• Baby wipes - regardless of whether or not you have a baby!!
• Backgammon and a pack of cards
• Flip flops for wearing into grotty showers
