Richard and I started diving in 1999 when we were living in Mauritius - perhaps the wrong place to learn as it is hard to beat 30 metre visibility and 30o C water temperature! Diving quickly became our an obsession and we decided to go on to train as PADI instructors.

On our first overland expedition we went fully equipped for diving - and discovered that reseating a repaired tyre is so much easier with a scuba tank full of air! One aspect of our forthcoming expedition is conservation and diving and we will be carrying out coral reef surveys for the Reef Check Foundation, an international organisation that relies on volunteer divers and marine scientists to collect data from which the health of the world's coral reefs can be determined. In addition, I will be documenting each dive site and dive centre that we visit, creating what I hope will be a useful online database.
