Getting there:

2000 - We entered Turkey from Syria at the border crossing near the Turkish town of Yayladagi. The crossing was quick and straight forwards, our only problem being that the border guard was more interested in watching a Turkish soap opera than issuing our visas.

We were charged the following:

Vehicle tax - £5.00
Completion of the Carnet de Passage - £5.00

Update 07-09-02:

No charge for vehicle tax or completing the carnet de passage.

Entered Turkey at Edirne.Process took 3/4 of an hour, including a brief customs check.

Visa requirements:

A multiple entry visitor's visa, valid for a stay of three months, is available at the border. The cost for British Nationals is £10 per person, payable in Sterling; however, as were only carrying US Dollars we were charged £15 per person.

Update 07-09-02:

Visa cost $17

Carnet de Passage en Douane:

Required for entry into Turkey.
